Friends of Joshua Davis Jr.’s family have put up a billboard on Interstate 35 to keep the toddler’s mysterious disappearance in the public eye.

The sign, near the Texas 46 intersection, shows one of the most recent photos of the boy, who was 18 months old when he who disappeared Feb. 4 from his parent’s house and mentions a $5,000 reward.

The cumulative rewards made available for the information, put up by Comal County Crime Stoppers and the FBI, total $20,000.

Police, Texas Rangers, FBI agents and even prison system dog teams scoured the city for weeks to no avail.

But with no leads and no arrests, says a family friend, the case has been out of the news for weeks.

The billboard, like the website www.joshuadavis.com, was donated to the cause.

A San Antonio woman has pleaded guilty to two kidnapping charges in a case involving a man who was beaten with pipes and chains then set on fire.  Emma Mello, took a plea deall last week that caps her sentence at 20 years, though her sentencing before state District Judge Lori Valenzuela isn’t expected until after two co defendants go to trial this summer.

Mello pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated kidnapping related to herman diaz III and a woman both of whom were believed to have solen money from people mello knows.  The body of Diaz was found a New Laredo Highway and Leon Creek on Oct 23 2007.  An investigation led police to several suspects but only Mello, Gloria Gamez were charged with murder.

In 2008 there were about 14,180 according to FBI statistics. However, it should be noted that some jurisdictions don’t report to the FBI, and many felony manslaughters aren’t tallied as “murders” in these DOJ reports. In the 2000′s the US had lower homicide rates than any decade since the 1950′s. Rates per/100,000 including homicides, justifiable homicides, terrorism deaths, and executions
