Authorities have released the name of an 18 year old killed while rushing to catch a bus on the Southwest Side. Emilio Macias died of multiple blunt force injuries after he was struck be an SUV in the 5900 block of South Zarzamora at Southcross Boulevard around 12:15p.m., according to San Antonio Police and the Bexar County medical examiner’s office.

San Antonio police detained a man suspected of leaving after striking a pedestrian with his car on a downtown sidewalk Monday morning. Samuel Garcia told police he lost a lens from his glasses wile he was driving about 8am. He drove onto the sidewalk on East Durango Boulevard and struck a woman. Garcia said after the collision, he suffered chest pain and was disoriented and continued driving on Durango until crashed into a utility pole at the corner of South St. Mary’s Street, where he was cornered by a civilian.

Garcia was charged with failure to stop and render aid, according to county records, His bail was set at $15k. The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital.
